Shinn Estate

As Long Islanders, we're fortunate to have access to many excellent vineyards and wineries. But what about Shinn Estate? This Long Island winery has become a staple of our Long Island culinary scene, offering outdoor weddings under a tent and indoor ceremonies. Shinn Estate also offers wine tastings and barrel cellar tours for your guests.

The vineyards and Winery at Shinn Estate are located on the North Fork. They have two wines, an exquisite Rose and a clean, elegant Merlot. The 2008 Rose is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc with 24 hours of skin contact. The 2006 Nine Barrels Reserve Merlot is aged in the best barrels from that particular vintage and is both elegant and clean.

The nonprofit organization Long-Island Sustainable Winegrowing was founded by Barbara Shinn. It was the first vineyard on Long Island to be certified as sustainable in 2012. Barbara Shinn helped pioneer biodynamic farming on Long Island. Today, she has become a prominent member of the sustainable wine-growing movement on Long Island.

Suru Wines

Suru Wines is a family-run vineyard located in Cutchogue, NY. The two owners, Russell and Susan Hearn are winemakers with over 30 years of experience. They started the business as a passion project but quickly turned it into a business. They recently opened a tasting room in Cutchogue, NY. Suhru Wines offers a variety of wines by the glass or bottle, as well as charcuterie and cheese plates from local restaurant Touch of Venice.

Visitors can also attend educational wine seminars at the Tasting House. The Winery also hosts events such as Tacos + Tunes, where guests can dine out while enjoying wine and live music. On Thursday evenings during the summer, Suhru hosts a Tacos + Tunes party featuring live music and food from the Mattitaco food truck. Another new tasting room at Suhru Wines, The Winemaker Studio, offers a relaxed atmosphere for guests.
